Clive Gross Photography:
Great Dixter Country House and Gardens

Great Dixter near Northiam in East Sussex probably dates to the mid-15th century, and boasts of the finest medieval halls in Britain - and so was an obvious choice of location for this selection of country house and garden photography. The house remained a farm house until becoming derelict in the early 20th century, when it was bought by Nathaniel Lloyd. He commissioned Edwin Lutyens to restore the house and design the gardens, made famous more recently by gardener and author Christopher Lloyd who spent his life developing the gardens. Shooting such a colourful location in mono at first may seem strange, but to me these shots evoke the character and etherial atmosphere of this charming place.
