Clive Gross Photography: Bristol and Clifton

Like many former major port towns and trading centres, Bristol has had to reinvent and regenerate itself as its traditional business and industry disappeared. Many of its impressive Victorian buildings remain, its university is still one of the best in the country, and it has the iconic and internationally recognised Clifton Suspension Bridge. Like all cities it contains a mixture of wealth and poverty within its boundaries, and some later buildings of less architectural merit. Yet, unlike some of its northern counterparts, to me it has retained a sense of its history, character and cultural identity which continues to draw people to it.
