Zwickau - home town of the TrabantZwickau is a pleasant German market town about 90 minutes by train from either Dresden or Leipsig - and desspite having been to both of those more famous places, a town I had never heard of prior to my Trabi ownership. Although the IFA Trabant factory is long gone (now partly occupied by the August Horch Museum) Zwickau is still part of the modern German motor industry, with a new VW plant on the outskirts of town. Although visiting for the ITT rally, I also took some time to look around the town and include a few pictures here to give a flavour of the Trabants ancestral home. You can find out more about the town from the official tourism website (new window).
